Welp, I officially have a running group date....this should be interesting and fun. Can I tell you that I'm nervous already? Although I'm familiar with all of the ladies, some more so than others, at least I know my MoCo will be with me, as well as the Jackhammer so at least I won't be completely "alone" aside from physically when they blow past me like the mighty gale force winds they are. LOL anywho....I'm happy and excited that I now have made a step in the right direction...so that even if I don't get my butt up between now and then, I have no choice or be the bum come Saturday (1/29). So now...I need to get up and get into gear so I'm not completely dying on our first group run, maybe it will come back faster....probably even faster if I'd stop eating crap. But that's another story for another day. So yeah. I'm excited. And nervous. But ready to get this show on the road. Not working out makes me feel sluggish...and even if I'm not losing size, I still feel better about myself for pushing further than I thought I could. Better than sitting on the couch.

In other news, I read this blog on BGR today that had me in tears....I could totally relate to what she was saying as she wrote about her first half marathon experience. I haven't run one, but I understood the feelings. That was a big push for me to get moving on this thing. I want to reach my goals. I want to run at least 5 races this year, one of them being a half marathon. I hope this group connects and we can run a few of the races MoCo and I plan to tackle together....I'm really looking at the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta for the 1/2 marathon goal. 4th of July weekend...why not? then I can load up on BBQ with the family and not feel one iota bad. ;-)

hmmmm....let me get to next weekend first....

Sigh.....

OMG! I haven't done anything, yet! Gotta get it together. I need the weather to cooperate so I can't have that excuse. Really, my biggest excuse has been solved in the form of my friend/angel, MoCo. I had no ipod since the thieves stole it back in November...in comes MoCo to the rescue! Mp3 player...check...and she even offered to pre-load it with a playlist! How freaking awesome is that? So now, I just need to make it happen. It seems the most feasible time is lunch....ugh...or I could just get this $15 Gold's Membership and take my self to the gym in the mornings....ugh...so hard to get out of bed in the cold...or even at lunch, they have a shower so I could run inside until it warms up and be clean when I go back to work. I need accountability. So...I took that step and noted on the BGR FBpage the desire for a Tallahassee group, knowing full well that could lead to an added responsibility of helping get it going....I'm ok with that and that will definitely be my accountability....I may be the slowest one in the bunch but at least I'll be in the bunch....I guess. oye.

Getting Going

Yeah...getting going is the problem right now. I. Can't. Get. Up. inthemornings. Ok will try to go to bed earlier...again. I fail at that because I'm usually up trying to wrap things from the day up...or playing Angry Birds. Ok so....tonight, I'm aiming for a 9p-9:30p bedtime, so that when the hubs leaves for work, I'm not wrapping back up in the covers and going to sleep. That and I shall pre-arrange the downstairs living room area so that all I have to do is press "power" and "play" to get going. We're not even talking about running here, I'm just trying to get a little more regularity with my exercise in, aside from dance rehearsals. I've only gained back about 4lbs. from my lowest at the time of my wedding (by the grace of God), so now I've got to get those back off and their cousins off, too.

In other news, one of my bffs, we'll call her Moco, has motivated me and we are set to try and race at least 5 times this year, starting with the Run for the Cookies 5k. (It's only fitting, lol). We're always super motivated by our favorite spin instructor turned friend from the DailyCynema...superwoman in a subaru is training for her first post baby a half marathon. We aim to get there just not before July. Let's be real here people. Sad part is I don't have any kids....so I have no excuses. lol ah well.

Welp, guess I'll get to working extra hard so that I don't have anything lingering and can't get to bed on time. Wish me luck. After almost 4 years, I'm back and have been attempting to train for yet another half marathon but reality set in and the Disney Princess isn't an option this year but I'm setting my sights on a 10k or maybe even a half for the Peachtree Road Race in July. So right now, I've been on hiatus due to work and church and cold weather and the holidays but now is as good a time as any to get back in the saddle...I think.

The weather is warm again so my exercised-induced asthma can not be my excuse when it is warm and beautiful like this.

I do have a plan. "Run" three days a week and do Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred two days.

Speaking of running...I watched the first episode for Season 13 of the Biggest Loser this morning and I was reminded that I need to get it together because the people on Day 1 of the ranch were 'jogging' on the treadmill at a 4.0...the painful part of this is that is a good steady pace for me when I used the treadmill (haven't used one probably in over a year and definitely not since I started the C25k program last spring). Clearly, I'm a slacker...the new ranchers can NOT be able to run faster than me...that just isn't fair or right. That right there is motivation. Now, to make it happen. Just have to make time. Skinny just won't come for free for me.

I must say a win is that the majority of the 20 I have lost in the last year has stayed off (+ or - 5lbs.) but maybe I should weigh this week before posting that.....anywho, the the clothes have stayed loose so I must be keeping the pounds off of my caboose. (just go with it.) #winningkindof

Now, to get back on track I know what I have to do, the hard part is doing it. Writing down the meals, fitting in exercise, shrinking the portions, cooking, etc.

Ok, Go TEAMSlimKim! Gotta go log today's meals if I'm going to get off to the right start on Day 1.

Sorta Like Cabin Fever

So I'm getting sort of like cabin fever. When I'm finally able to get the green light to at least walk and swim, T.S. Faye decides to come rain on my parade, literally. Running and working out provided a little vacation for my mind and soul sometimes. Where even with someone, I was able to move along in quiet and be alone with my thoughts. It gave me much needed space, especially times like these when things get stressful. And things are stressful, I'm not happy with any situation right now and am dealing with feelings of being taken advantage of and not being able to exert that extra energy and all this tension I'm carrying is not making this easy to move past. Usually I can work it out and by the time I've worked up a good sweat, I'm over whatever is bugging me and I can deal with whatever is waiting when I walk in the door. This has truly been a test of my patience. I'd say I'm weathering the storm quite nicely considering how I want to explode. I've managed to work out, in my mind, with all the idle time, that I tend to compromise over things that I really shouldn't and that I internalize a lot, I'm quick to lash out at others but hold my often sharp tongue when it comes to friends in an effort to not upset them and/or ruffle feathers even if it means compromising and inconveniencing myself. I need to get out again all this idle time is making me crazy.

Half the Battle

So, went for my follow up today for my ankle. It's been 3 weeks and one day. Seems like 30 weeks and 10 days but who am I? So, It's been 3 weeks and one day since my fateful spill across the floor of the Earth in Tom Brown Park and apparently, I'm only halfway to almost halfway finished with recovery or something. I say almost half way because I was reminded that it takes 6-8 weeks to heal a sprain and somehow that was supposed to console me. It didn't work.. But I figure if I keep repeating it then by the time 6-8 weeks gets here, I'll be ok with it. What makes it even more difficult to handle is the torture that I am forced to endure. Why does it seems like EVERY one is out running now? This many people were not out running before my fall, or were they and I just notice them more now because I can't be in the number. . .? hmmm. Thought provoking, I have a lot of time for that now.

It is good to see so many people out and it makes me want to get back out there and join them, even if its just at a slow jog.

But back to the follow-up... so the final word is that for the next week I can walk (she emphasized walk for some reason. I must look like I'm hard headed or something because this is the 2nd time that the doctor has emphasized instructions for me to follow) and swim but avoid the gym and ellipticals etc. Then the following week gauge how the walking went and any pain and add speed and distance gradually until I'm off and running again, literally. I'm woman enough to admit that patience is not my forte. And this is clearly a test of my newly found patience that I've been working so hard to cultivate and develop. Hmmm.

Guess I'm off to find a swim coach, if I'm going to swim I'm going to do it right. Go hard, or go home is my motto. Coincidentally, it was true even in my unfortunate fall.

Carry on. . .

Starting From Scratch

As if this whole bright idea of trying to run a half marathon next March weren't already difficult and high reaching enough. I have now managed to sprain my ankle. I was on crutches for a week and am now limping around with an air cast and ace bandage in flip-flops nonetheless. Certainly not fabulous and definitely not Manolo worthy. The good news is that I was actually running when it happened and was actually excited and feeling great because I had actually managed to run most of the distance we had covered before my unfortunate tumble. Seriously, anything over a full size larger is a hazard to run in. Anytime you leave a drag mark from your toe in the ground behind you after a fall is a tell tell sign. But I digress. I digress because I'm frustrated because I can't do anything. But i'm still motivated and optimistic. . .today.

So basically next week, Tuesday to be exact, I'll be starting from scratch again. . .hopefully. Assuming I get the doc's green light, I'll hit the elliptical and indoor bike and be on my way to starting my training back over. Hopefully two weeks after that I can hit the treadmill and work back up to running. There is a lot of hope included in these next few weeks. I hope it works out as planned.
